I'm Lorna

Hello,

I believe each person carries an innate capacity to heal, grow, and come home to who they are. As we meet ourselves with compassion, we can listen to the many layers of our experiences, feelings, and responses. With clarity and self-awareness, we may rediscover the wisdom that has been within us all along.

My work is grounded in strengths-based, mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, and holistic practices, honouring your lived experience, your nervous system, and your way of being in the world. Together, we may explore your relationships, emotions, life experiences, and the patterns that have become familiar over time, while remaining curious about what feels meaningful for you.

I bring a heart-centered and intuitive presence to our work, attuned to the delicate connection between mind, body, and spirit and the inner wisdom that lives within each of us.

MY EXPERIENCE

My Professional Background

For over three decades, I have had the privilege of working alongside others through the many stages of life. I began my career as a high school teacher and later became a school counsellor, where my work included supporting young people with emotional, interpersonal, and educational concerns.

My Private Practice

For the past 12 years, I have been in private practice with youth, adults, couples, and families. My experience spans a diverse range of personal, emotional, and relational challenges, including times of change, uncertainty, loss, and growth. This experience has deepened my understanding of the many ways our relationships, life experiences, and inner worlds can influence our well-being.

My Life Experience

Over the course of my professional life, I have seen the complexity of close relationships and the change over time. It can take courage to seek help and share what is happening in our lives.

Who I am as a counsellor is connected to the life I have lived. My husband and I have spent 45 years together, and I am deeply grateful for his love and companionship and for the family life we have shared with our two beautiful daughters.

Joys In My Life

Outside of my work, I treasure simple moments with family and friends and time spent in nature. I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, gardening, and exploring to take in the miracles of life. I also love yoga, baking, cooking, and creating warmth and comfort in my home.

I believe

in receiving every person with kindness and acceptance.

I hold a deep appreciation for the beauty of our shared humanity and the many identities, cultures, abilities, and lived experiences that are part of who we are.

EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS

My education, experience, and ongoing learning reflect a lifelong curiosity about people, relationships, and our inner lives.
